We just got a flock of chicks! Join me as I discuss how it is going for us so far, what you need to get started, and how you can take finally take the plunge yourself.
Episode Show notes
We purchases 8 chicks from the feed store. The breeds we bought were:
- Golden Laced Wyandotte
- Amberlink
- Columbia Rock Cross
- Barred Rock
- Blue Rock
- Buff Orphington
- Silver Laced Wyandotte
- Silkie
This is our inital setup for the chicks when we first got them home.
Once the chicks grew to a certain size and they were more aggressive about trying to fly, we moved them to a larger pen that we moved to the middle of our foyer. I DO NOT recommend sharing a living space with them – there is SO MUCH DUST!
After awile, I absolutely could not handle them in my house anymore and they were right about 9 weeks old. It was time to move them out to the coop.
My husband put the coop together and painted it for me.
It is from Tractor Supply Company and you can purchase it here: Petmate Superior Construction Chicken Coop
